Bayonetta Joins the Super Smash Bros. Roster on Wii U and 3DS

December 15, 2015 by Stephen Daly

The Witch will join the game in February along with a themed level.

Nintendo has announced that Platinum Games' Bayonetta will be joining the Super Smash Bros. roster on Wii U and 3DS.

Series creator Masahiro Sakurai revealed the news today during a Nintendo Direct stream and also confirmed that the witch will be the last DLC character for the game.

The company says Bayonetta was the "overall number choice worldwide" in the Super Smash Bros. poll, which asked fans to nominate characters for inclusion in the game as DLC.

Bayonetta will sport two costumes, one based on her appearance in the original game and one based on her look in the sequel. In addition to her four guns, she'll be able to use her Witch Time powers to slow down the action.

A Bayonetta-themed stage, Umbra Clock Tower, inspired by the falling clock tower platform level from Bayonetta 2 will also be introduced, as will as Jeanna, Roding, and Cereza trophies.

Bayonetta and the Umbra Clock Tower stage are planned for the game in February.
