TowerFall Ascension launched on PS4 and Steam in 2014, and now it’s available on PS Vita as of December 15. The game originally premiered on Ouya, the Android-based device. All players who have bought the game on PS4 will get it for free on PS Vita (the game only costs $15 anyway). While there’s currently no cross save support between PS Vita and PS4 versions, a patch should address that problem shortly.
Developer Matt Thorson took to the PlayStation blog to talk about the game’s new release. “PS Vita has undoubtedly become my favorite way to play TowerFall single player,” he boasts. “But TowerFall is a local multiplayer game at its heart — designed for you to squeeze onto a couch with your friends to compete on the same screen. On PS Vita, you’ll use ad hoc wireless to fight your friends on other PS Vita systems in the same room.” He promises that while playing the game on the PS Vita feels like a new experience, it’ll still bring the game’s familiar joy.
