In a short and sudden announcement, Double Fine Productions announced Psychonauts 2 at The Game Awards. The announcement came via a teaser trailer and a short speech by Tim Schafer. The game is being crowdfunded on Fig, a website similar to KickStarter. The site allows for traditional rewards-based crowdfunding, in addition to an investment-based model. It should be noted that Tim Schafer is on the Fig advisory board.
Within two minutes of the announcement, the game had raised over $1,700 from 8 backers, and has raised $120,807 of its $3.3 million goal from over a thousand backers. There are 34 days left in the campaign.
