Monster Hunter X has hit 2 million units shipped since its launch in Japan.
This is as of November 28, 2015, six days after launch. Yes, this was also just a few days after Capcom revealed it outsold its predecessor, Monster Hunter 4G, in lifetime sales, just yesterday.
Capcom reaffirmed plans to release even more Monster Hunter games in the near future, including card arcade game Monster Hunter Spirits in December, and Monster Hunter Stories for 3DS in 2016. There will also be a Monster Hunter animated series that will go to TV broadcast in Japan.
At this point, Monster Hunter is making enough money to sustain a smaller game company on its own. Capcom is certain to be relieved that they can continue to depend on the franchise’s performance as it regroups its global and mobile strategies.
Of course, Monster Hunter remains bigger in Japan than the rest of the world, but Capcom sees the potential of the franchise. Where do you think Capcom should take the franchise next? How soon should they wait before bringing Monster Hunter X stateside? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
