Bombshell developer Interceptor Entertainment has outlined details for the game’s release, including its new release date: January 29, 2016.
As you may have guessed, the cause for the delay is the same as it’s always been for games delayed after the holidays; Bombshell needs polish, particularly to iron out remaining bugs. On the upside, Interceptor confirmed a digital release on PC first, on both Steam and GOGcom.
They also confirmed a Digital Deluxe Edition, which outstrips the $ 34.99 standard edition for a mere additional five dollars. The Bombshell Digital Deluxe Edition comes with all of these:
· Digital copy of the game
· Digital copy of the soundtrack
· Beta access to prequelThe Washington Project
· Digital art book
· Digital world maps
You read that right, Interceptor also took the occasion to confirm another game starring 3DRealms’ best hiding-in-plain-sight protagonist. So what is The Washington Project? Interceptor describes it as a retro FPS prequel using the Duke Nukem engine. It will cover Bombshell’s origin story, and it’s planned for release also in 2016.
It seems like The Washington Project may have been another project Interceptor was working on in secret while Duke Nukem litigation made them unsure if they could get to use the IP again. It might even be 3DRealms’ way of moving forward with Bombshell as their new main franchise.
