Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Gets Delayed To August 2016

November 18, 2015 by Carlos Chism

February now looks much less busy.

Eidos Montreal has announced that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will now launch on August 23, 2016. This is six months after the initial launch date of February 23, 2016. The studio’s head, David Anfossi explains this decision in the blog post announcement: "We're confident and proud of the game so far. However, as we are now playing through the game in full we can see that it will require more time in post-production for tuning, iterations and refinement to meet our high standards." He says the extra time is necessary to exceed the game’s expectations and improve on Deus Ex: Human Revolution “in every way possible.”

This new entry into the long-running cyberpunk franchise is highly anticipated for its open-world play. The game drew attention for featuring several female characters in combat during E3 this past June, a marked shift from the male-dominated combat of its predecessor. While many were looking forward to the game sooner rather than later, this helps clear up a crowded February calendar. Ubisoft’s Far Cry Primal is still due out that month, along with TakeTwo’s XCOM 2, and Capcom’s Street Fighter V. Until Recently, EA’s Mirror’s Edge was also due out in February.

If you haven’t caught up on what makes Mankind Divided different from its predecessor, you can read about the game’s new features here.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided launches August 23, 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
