Splatoon Summer Fun Continues With Two Upcoming Stages, New Outfits, And More

November 13, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Nintendo promises to continue support until at least January, but maybe we can make them keep going.

Nintendo unveiled the latest batch of updates avid players can expect from everyone’s favorite squid ink shooter, Splatoon. Two truly inspired stages were revealed, which show that in Inkopolis, summer lasts forever.

Museum d’Alfonsino is a contemporary museum, apparently built by and for the jellyfish. With multiple high spots and revolving doors, it promises to be a true challenge of a stage. It’ll be a sight for squid eyes as well, with all the nautical art on display throughout the stage.

Mahi-Mahi  Resort promises to be the hardest stage to play on yet, as Inklings traverse platforms floating on water in the middle of a pool. The water levels will dip mid-match, increasing the amount of surface area Inklings can paint and step on. The fighting will be fierce, but nothing will be decided until the very end.

Museum d’Alfonsino will be coming in an update tomorrow, but today an update already came out giving the Inklings new fashionable items and pieces, including some winter-y sweaters, scarves, and cleats.

Splatoon will continue to receive updates until at least January, hinting that that support may be extended even more if the demand is there. Of course, with some shooters, developers continue to provide updates for years, although perhaps not as rapidly as Splatoon has seen.

Would you like to see Splatoon get the kind of long term support games like Team Fortress 2 receive? Or would you like EAD move on with a Splatoon 2, or maybe a different shooter? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. You can also watch a trailer cut from the Direct above.
