Resident Evil Village was a hit game for the RE franchise. Following the incredible success of its predecessor Biohazard, Village has kept the momentum going. At yesterday’s Capcom Showcase, a very interesting reveal has fans talking. In a new Gold Edition of the game, players can expect some new story DLC content–not starring Ethan Winters, as his fate has been sealed, but his daughter Rose instead. The DLC will also be sold separately.
Shadows of Rose will focus on Rose Winters 16 years after the events of Resident Evil Village, focusing on her quest back to the village to figure out more about her life and the powers that she has. As the trailer shows, doing this might just be the biggest mistake she ever made, as the village itself tries to warn her to leave before it’s too late.
There are plenty of questions popping up about this new addition. With the new story being set 16 years after the original game, things will have greatly advanced in the overall RE story.
Whether this is a one-off tale or something more remains to be seen. (Spoilers ahead!) It should be noted that Rose does mention Chris Redfield (who takes her at the end of the game at the cost of her father) by name, meaning that facts revealed in Village still stand.
There are other additions coming to the Gold Edition, so if you haven’t played Resident Evil Village yet, this might just be the version that you’ll want. If you’re just itching for a replay, you might wait until Shadows of Rose arrives to get the whole story.
