New content is heading to Fallout 76 and it’s taking some inspiration from one of the best-loved titles in the Fallout franchise. As revealed during yesterday’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, Fallout 76 is still being worked on, and the latest DLC that’s coming to the post-apocalyptic multiplayer RPG will see players revisit The Pitt.
The new expansion will be rolling out as a free update in September and introduces a number of new Expeditions for players to venture into. The Pitt will take players further afield than ever before in Fallout 76, allowing them to actually venture beyond the borders of Appalachia, the game’s current open-world West Virginia environment. You can check out the official story trailer for The Pitt right here if you didn’t manage to catch it during the event.
The Pitt is a location that first appeared in Fallout 3, and is essentially a raider-filled area of what used to be Pittsburgh. Players will encounter two new factions that are locked in a turf war in The Pitt: the Union and the Fanatics. The Pitt looks set to feature a network of underground and overground environments for players to explore as they progress through some brand new story content for the game, which those faithful to Fallout 76 are bound to be pleased about.
The new expansion will also introduce the new Expeditions game mode for Fallout 76, which will essentially allow players to undertake replayable missions in different locations other than Appalachia, with The Pitt presumably being the first of further Expeditions to come in further DLC expansions.
Fallout 76’s 10th season will also kick off in September at the same time as the release of The Pitt. Elsewhere, the Test Your Metal update gets underway tomorrow, along with the start of season 9, and further into this year, we’ll see the release of Nuka-World On Tour hit Appalachia.
Fallout 76 Expeditions: The Pitt will be released in September on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
