On the main stage at BlizzCon today, Blizzard announced three new Overwatch characters and a new map, all now playable in the beta. The map, dubbed Hollywood, looks a bit like a mashup of a wild west cowboy town and Hollywood movie set. The gameplay trailer shows already known characters battling it out with three new characters on the Hollywood map.
The three new characters are Genji, a ninja-style character wielding a sword, Mei, who wields an ice gun, and D.Va, who can unleash a mech onto the battlefield. You can read more about them here. The map and characters are all now playable in the beta, for those who have access.
We also recently learned that Overwatch will come in two editions: a $39.99 regular edition, and a $59.99 Origins Edition, which includes a lot of special content. While this ends speculation about the game following a free-to-play model, there will most likely be heroes available for purchase who are not available in the base game, later on down the line. The game will also be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
For those following the game's updates throughout BlizzCon, there is an Overwatch panel slated for 4:45 – 5:45 PM PST at the main stage.
Overwatch is slated to release on or before June 21, 2016, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
