Hot on the heels of confirmation that Blizzard's Overwatch is not a free-to-play game and is coming to console, the developer has posted detailers about three of the game's characters, Mei, Genji, and D.Va (pictured above).
Mei-Ling Zhou is a scientist of Chinese descent who previously operated out of Xi'an, China was affliated to Overwatch. As a climatologist, her abilities allow her to control the cold and they are Endothermic Blast, Cryo-Freeze, and Ice Wall. Her ultimate ability is Blizzard, which, as the name suggest, freezes those unfortunate enough to linger too long.
Genji Shimada is a 35 year old cyborg based out of the Shimbala Monastery in Napal, and was formerly attached to both the ninja Shimada clan and Overwatch. His abilities are shuriken, deflect, and swift strike. Using his ultimate ability, dragonblade, Genji can yield his katana for a short time, resulting in killing blows to any foe within reach.
D.Va, aka 19 year old Hana Song, was formerly a pro-Starcraft gamer but has turned her talents to mech piloting, and is affliated to the mobile exo force of the Korean army. D.Va seems like a pretty formidable option, her abilities are fusion cannons, boosters, defense matrix (which shoots projectiles out of the air), and when she steps out of her mech she can use the light gun ability. Her ultimate abilities are self-destruct, which speaks for itself, and call mech, which allows her to summon a new mech when the old one is destroyed to return to the fight.
Overwatch launches in spring 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
