A few new images for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender have been posted online courtesy of Assassin’s Creed content lead Azaïzia Aymar.
The images show a few swords and not much else. In his first tweet, Aymar says, “Look what I found on #assassinscreedmovie set! Those Abstergo guys just love Templars,” pointing to the possibility that these swords belong to the Templars, the Assassin’s opposing faction in a centuries-long war.

In a second tweet, Aymar said, “Time for a close up! Who is the man on the pommel? #assassinscreedmovie #truetemplarwouldknow ;)” This, again, points to the swords belonging to the Templars.

The Assassin’s Creed movie opens Dec. 21, 2016 and stars Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Prometheus) in the lead role with Jeremy Irons (Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Lolita), Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter film series, In Bruges, Braveheart), Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises, Macbeth), and more having also joined the cast.
CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures Jean Julien Baronnet recently discussed why he believes the Assassin’s Creed movie will not fall in line with so many underperforming video game-to-movie adaptations before it.
