There’s been some exciting news for the Dragon Age community lately, what with the official announcement of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf last week. Now, while many in the fandom have finally calmed down from that big reveal, another announcement has landed this afternoon–a brand new animated Netflix series, Dragon Age: Absolution.
The new series was revealed earlier today as part of The Game Awards’ Netflix Geeked Week: Gaming stream. The trailer revealed that the new animated series has been developed in collaboration with BioWare, and looks set to bring a wealth of lore-filled entertainment to the small screen when it launches in December. Check out the official trailer from Netflix to get a feel for Dragon Age: Absolution below.
The trailer looks compelling and the news is sure to be a hit with the Dragon Age community, on cloud nine after getting two new content reveals in under two weeks after years of relative silence. The series will arrive on Netflix at the end of the year and will take place in Tevinter, which is also the setting for the upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf game. Naturally, this may lead some fans to wonder if characters from the show may eventually be featured in the game, but that’s just speculation at this point.
Regardless, this is exciting news for lovers of the Dragon Age franchise as well as being another strong move for TV-based video game adaptations, which have enjoyed recent successes with the likes of Arcane and The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf. Hopefully, Dragon Age: Absolution will prove to be another hit adaptation for Netflix to add to its roster. It’s certainly something that will help keep the community happy while we wait for further news on a release date for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
Dragon Age: Absolution will be streaming on Netflix in December.
