Forgotten Empires will release The African Kingdoms expansion for Age of Empires 2 HD on Steam this Thursday, November 5th.
The African Kingdoms opens up that continent, with civilizations such as the Berbers, the Malians, Ethiopia, and the Portuguese being playable. The Berbers have access to faster ships and camel archers, while the Malians can field armour-piercing infantry. We can expect news on the Portuguese and Ethiopia units soon.
The African Empires was announced back in April and sees a new campaign introduced to the game with new buildings, technologies, and units.
Age of Empires 2 was originally released back in 1999 by Ensemble Studios with Forgotten Empires releasing the HD version on Steam in 2013. The developer is also working on the 'Tale of the Dragon' expansion for Age of Mythology HD, which introduces a playable Chinese faction and everything associated with that.
