Tekken 7 is coming to PlayStaiton 4, Bandai Namco announced today at the PlayStation media Briefing at Paris Games Week 2015.
Originally relegated to arcades, this marks the first time Tekken 7 will be playable on home consoles. The PS4 version will include new content not found in the arcade version, executive producer Katsuhiro Harada said on stage at the media briefing. Also, it is being developed using Unreal Engine 4.
Tekken 7 will continue the story of the Mishima clan and feature a new character from said family, Kazumi Mishima. Bandai Namco has billed the story as “the epic battle between father and son, and also husband and wife.” The developer is also calling Tekken 7 the conclusion to Mishima clan’s story.
A trailer accompanied the announcement that featured clips from all six previous mainline Tekken games, culminating in a title card that read, “Before Tekken 1.” Clips of antagonist Heihachi Mishima and his son, Kazuya Mishima, are shown before Heihachi’s wife, Kazumi Mishima, is finally revealed.
No release date for Tekken 7 was given, only that it will be coming to PS4 and will support PlayStation VR.
Jim with another surprise, Tekken 7 will be coming to PlayStation VR! Imagine that! #PlayStationPGW
