Two Point Studios Reaffirms Commitment to Staying “Boutique”

In a recent interview, Two Point Studios reaffirmed their commitment to staying “boutique”; implying their goal is to keep things small scale in terms of production and to continue outputting unique and original titles like their hit Two Point Hospital.

Two Point Studios has come a long way since they initially released Two Point Hospital back in 2018. In the years since they’ve been bought up by SEGA and Microsoft has turned their game into a staple of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

With that sort of success, some fans could be reasonably worried they might fundamentally change. After all, how often have we seen smaller developers lose their identity (or worse, just get completely absorbed and dissolved) by giants like Electronic Arts?

Thankfully, SEGA appears to be a kind and savvy owner with Founder Mark Webley explaining that SEGA basically told them:

“… do what you want to do, we’re here more as a support organisation than the overlord saying ‘these things need to be blue’ or ‘you need to do Hospital 2’.”

With their upcoming title Two Point Campus on the way, the company has explained their intention is to remain devoted to their fans; and that despite the similarities between Two Point titles, that they’re still thinking about how best to serve fans of the original game and the new fans they may get in the future.

Whether you’re a fan of Two Point Hospital already, or at least appreciate sincerity and forthrightness from companies, it’s reassuring to have developers like Two Point Studios come out and say it.
