Rogue-like space shooter Everspace will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10, in addition to its already-planned Steam release, thanks to the ID@Xbox self-publishing program, developer Rockfish Games announced Thursday.
Having risen over $500,000 through Kickstarter and its own website, Everspace is a rogue-like space shooter that can be played in first or third-person and contains full support for virtual reality devices.
Due to this partnership with ID@Xbox, Everspace will not be available on other console platforms besides the Xbox One when it launches late next year. The first build of the Xbox One version will be shown at GDC in March 2016, the developer says. It also notes that the pre-alpha PC version already performs quite well and it wants to make sure that the Xbox One version runs just as well.
Rockfish also took time to announce gamepad support on the PC, which does not come as a surprise given the Xbox One version announcement. Additionally, thanks to continued crowd-funding, Everspace will contain a “hardcore mode,” which includes things like perma-death “and other nasty surprises for all rogue-like purists.”
Everspace started its crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter last August, which concluded a month later. €420,252 (roughly $462,676) was raised through Kickstarter alone. Crowd-funding continues on Everspace’s official website. It will be released in Q4 next year.
