Announced in today’s Sony State of Play, Rollerdrome is a futuristic “skater-shooter” by Roll7, the BAFTA award-winning indie developers behind OlliOlliWorld.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony followed up its announcement by dropping more details about the game. Set in the year 2030, Rollerdrome is a new bloodsport that combines “stylish skate tricks with devastating slow-mo kills.” Players can replenish their ammo by dodging enemy attacks and successfully pulling off tricks. More difficult tricks earn more ammo, and with the haptic feedback of the PS5’s DualSense controller, players will “be able to feel the lack of resistance in the trigger when you’re out of bullets.”
The trailer features a dual-pistol-wielding protagonist, but according to the blog post, a plethora of unlockable weapons are available in the game, including a grenade launcher and Z-11 Energy Rifle. Additionally, slo-mo Super Reflex mode can help players execute the perfect shot. And for those struggling to learn new tricks, the Tricktionary is a handy reference to help you learn moves, such as a textbook backside fakey 360.
Rollerdrome is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 16, 2022.
