State of Play: Street Fighter 6 Receives New Gameplay Trailer, Real-Time Commentary Trailer, and 2023 Release Window

June 2, 2022 by Jordan Biazzo

Sony and Capcom have announced the latest entry in the long-running fighting franchise, Street Fighter. Yes, the official reveal of Street Fighter 6 is here! We have received two new trailers showcasing the 6th entry in the epic franchise, one announcement trailer with gameplay, and the other discussing the real-time commentary in SF6. The title is scheduled for a 2023 release date.

Gamers will be glad to hear that Street Fighter 6 will include an immersive single-player story, Fighting Ground, which focuses on the classic fighting game experience, and a new mode called World Tour which acts as a battle hub to expand the engagement in the fighting community.

Check out the debut announcement trailer for Street Fighter 6 down below:

Street Fighter 6, the next game in the iconic series, will release in 2023! Take part in the Fighting Ground, which focuses on the classic fighting game experience with modes from previous games in the series. Two new modes will be available alongside: World Tour, an immersive single-player story experience, and Battle Hub, which will further expand the scope of player communication and engagement. Your Moment. Your Fight. Stay tuned for more information!

Capcom also noted in their second trailer which discusses real-time commentary that they are looking for new commentators for the game. They want to incorporate a play-by-play for when gamers fight like an Esports match would happen. This seems like an interesting take and I’m curious to see where this goes.

Learn more about the real-time commentary in the video down below:

For the first time in the series, Street Fighter 6 will feature real time commentary! We’re working with well-known talent from the fighting game community to incorporate their voices directly in the game. Feel the excitement of competing in a tournament from the comfort of your own home. We’ll be announcing more commentators in the future. Street Fighter 6 will release in 2023!
