Alan Tudyk of Firefly fame, who's set to appear in 2016's Star Wars: Rogue One, has discussed why he left the cast of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.
Tudyk spoke to IGN in relation to his decision to leave the game's production. "I quit!" he commented, laughing. "I left because [Naughty Dog] decided to go a different direction with it and so when they did that … it made my contract null and void," the actor explained.
While Tudyk didn't reveal specifics about why, Tudyk used the opportunity to pass from the project when Naughty Dog started "making some weird changes." He was joined by Todd Stashwick who also departed. This was a tumultuous time at the studio, with Uncharted 4's original director Justin Richmond departing the studio for Riot Games.
Uncharted series lead writer Amy Hennig also left, making her way to Visceral Games at EA. The team behind The Last of Us, including joint directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, took control of the game's development.
While we may never know how the changes have impacted the game's creation, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End launches on March 18th, 2016.
