Destiny’s PvP mode Trials of Osiris will not be returning this weekend, as planned, due to an exploit in the Hunter’s Nightstalker subclass, Bungie announced in its Weekly Update blog post today.
“A funny thing happened on the way to the Lighthouse,” community manager David “DeeJ” Dague wrote in the blog post. “It turns out that there’s a particularity nasty bug that would undoubtedly conspire to create a less competitive return to form for Trials of Osiris. We’re going to be intentionally vague here, for what we hope are obvious reasons!
“We’re going to disable that bug before we invite you to take your next run at a 9-0. We’re also working on a final fix for the bug itself as soon as possible. As soon as we have a solid commitment for Brother Vance, we’ll make a formal announcement on when Trial of Osiris will begin again. We hope that most of you recognize the impact a limitless Nightstalker would have on the competitive landscape.”
The exploit in question essentially grants Nightstalkers infinite use of their Super ability, Shadowshot. While having the exotic helmet Graviton Forfeit equipped and the modifier Quiver active in the subclass menu, Nightstalkers must simply activate their Super ability and then when it is about to expire, open and exit the menu. Players should find that their Super energy has been restored. Rinse and repeat for infinite Super energy.
You can see the exploit in action in a PvE scenario below:
Currently, Destiny has another PvP event ongoing called Iron Banner. Bungie made no mention on whether Iron Banner’s scheduling would be affected by this exploit.
