Developer Cloud Imperium Games has released the opening cinematic for Squadron 42, featuring actor Gary Oldman as Admiral Bishop delivering a declaration of war.
In the cinematic Bishop talks about the realities and the cost of losing a war. He does not believe that the nation he represents can bear to back down to another militaristic force that wants to push them out of the region they call home again.
Oldman joins a cast of other high-profile actors such as Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), Mark Strong (Kingsman), and Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises).
Cloud Imperium Games recently released a 12-minute interview with Oldman, discussing his experience working on Squadron 42.
“I’ve got a vague idea of what I look like. I’ve got a vague idea of what I’m wearing. I have a somewhat good idea of what the bridge of the ship that I was in, but all of this stuff, it keeps evolving,” he said in the interview. “I mean we’re fighting this enemy, the Vandul. I actually only saw today what they look like.”
Squadron 42, the story component of Cloud Imperium’s multi-pillar Star Citizen, will be released in 2016.
