343, the makers of Halo 5: Guardians, have published a new post detailing all of the vehicles that the UNSC will use on the battlefield. The new post complements their article about the Covenant's vehicles, published a few days ago.
Fans of the series will be able to recognize some familiar vehicles, which can be summoned in the heat of battle through the game's new requisition system in Warzone scenarios.
“The REQ system not only allows for players to call in awesome ordnance to change the tide of battle in the all-new Warzone multiplayer mode, it also allows fiction-focused fans a glimpse into potential mission-specific variants or skunkworks prototypes being tested out in the Warzone scenarios.”
As the quote suggests, vehicles come in a number of variants that alter their look and function. Here's what's up:
ONI Scorpion: The new M820 is an upgrade of the M808 with nearly identical firepower and armor protection and only half the mass.
Corp Mongoose: Much bigger than the M274, this variant is a ruggedized version with extra armor.
Urban Rocket Warthog: It's an improved rocket warthog with better armor.
ONI Gauss Warthog: The ONI-spec variant of this vehicle carries a gauss cannon that produces a lingering area effect of damage with its blasts. It also has heavier armor.
Gungoose: It's a Mongoose equipped with twin grenade launchers. A passenger can be seated at the back to provide fire support.
Banshee Ultra: Definitely not a UNSC vehicle. The Banshee Ultra comes equipped with heavy armor and better weapons.
Halo 5: Guardians will be out on October 27 for the Xbox One.
