Minecraft Experience Orbs Are Now Score Points, No More &e0

September 28, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Notch has updated Minecraft so that experience orbs will also provide score points to players.

Notch has finally gotten around to fixing the score points in Minecraft—previously referred to as "&e0"—by making the newly implemented experience orbs provide score points.

Experience orbs will now have a "dual purpose" according to Notch, by providing both score and experience—neither of which has any actual use in the game as of yet. We may have to wait until the release of version 1.10 to see experience and skill levels in action.

As proof of the new update, Notch had the following image to share. The picture also teases Minecraft's upcoming Hardcore mode, which grants the player a single life, and permanent death. Needless to say, it's going to be harsh.

Minecrafters on Reddit are likewise bemoaning the death of "Andy O". I have no idea what it means, either.
