Bethesda is currently “evaluating” BattleCry due to “concerns” the company has over the game in its current state, according to website ProgressBar.
It’s been over a year and a half since Bethesda announced BattleCry, in development by the aptly named BattleCry Studios, and when reached for comment about the current status of the game, Bethesda delivered this statement to ProgressBar:
We have concerns about the BattleCry game and whether it is meeting the objectives we have for it. We are evaluating what improvements the game needs to meet our quality standards. The studio remains busy during this process on multiple projects.
After its announcement, BattleCry made an appearance at E3 2014 and then again at E3 2015 with a gameplay trailer you can view below.
In addition to BattleCry, Bethesda has several different projects in the works at the moment. Id Software is working on the new Doom, Arkane Studios is working on Dishonored 2, and Bethesda Game Studios is working on the soon-to-be-released Fallout 4. While individual development studios are assigned to each of these projects, Bethesda’s above statement indicates that BattleCry Studios is working on “multiple projects,” as in projects other than BattleCry. BattleCry Studios could be helping out with other Bethesda-published games, or perhaps some other unannounced projects of their own.
When do you think we will see more of BattleCry? PAX Australia is just around the corner, but given this statement, it is doubtful that BattleCry Studios will be showing the game off at the expo down under.
