Telltale Games have pulled their library from the iOS9 App Store.
This follows other AAA developers removing their games from the platform, such as Real Racing, Flight Control. Bioshock, and most recently, Ghost Trick. Ghost Trick publisher Capcom also chose not to update Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS9, leaving gamers who updated devices and OSes in the lurch.
No longer available for purchase are these games:
· Back to the Future
· Hector trilogy
· Jurassic Park
· Law & Order Legacies
· Tales of Monkey Island
· Poker Night 2
· Puzzle Agent
· Puzzle Agent 2
· Sam and Max
· The Wolf Among Us
· The Walking Dead Season One
· The Walking Dead Season Two
A fan has also independently verified that on top of this, Puzzle Agent and Puzzle Agent 2 are no longer available to redownload. Of course, other titles may be facing the same fate, so if you own some of these games, you may want to download them now.
So, why does it seem AAAs are losing confidence in mobile? It seems to boil down to the constant OS updates. Unlike consoles and even Windows, Apple’s OS updates are coming too frequently and making too many changes too quickly for these games.
Ideally, these games should be getting updates to be compatible, but because Apple has made this prohibitively expensive, it’s no longer worth the effort for them to keep doing so. Whatever money they could be making won’t make up for the cost and hassle to keep updating.
Did you own any of these games on your Apple devices? Feel free to sound off with your own comments below.
