Deadline reports that Jeremy Irons (The Mission, The Lion King, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Braveheart, Edge of Tomorrow) have joined Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in 20th Century Fox's Assassin's Creed movie.
Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, who discovers he has the abilities of a master assassin from his ancestor Aguilar, while details of Cotillard's role is being kept a secret. Gleeson and Irons will play their respective fathers.
Parts of the film will take place in 15th century Spain.
The film is being directed by Justin Kurzel (The Snowtown Murders, Macbeth) and goes into production within a week.
