Block N Load, the first-person shooter that combines sandbox construction and competitive FPS gameplay, has gone free-to-play, developer Jagex Games Studio announced today.
"We know from working together with our amazing community that the vast majority of our players wanted Block N Load to be a free-to-play game, so that's what we've done! We took the time to develop and implement a fully-rounded free-to-play experience, and added a ton of new content and improvements on top," said Jagex vice president David Solari. "We are really proud to have made a game that is truly unique in the shooter space and look forward to working with our players again to build on it."
The free-to-play update for Block N Load also adds new heroes, perks, daily challenges, player progression, and improvements to combat and matchmaking. Daily challenges must be completed within a single match or, obviously, 24 hours. A single challenge may task a player with getting a certain number of kills or completing specific actions. Completing the daily challenges will award players with gold bars that can be used to purchase new heroes and perks.
The perks system is new to Block N Load and it enables players to further customize their heroes. Jagex boasts 55 different perks, both offensive and defensive ones that players can choose from.
Three new heroes were also added in this update: “Master of electricity” Vander Graaf, “J-Pop kitty-launching" Kira-chan, and the “always frosty” Yury the Yeti.
