While the DCEU is still trying to figure itself out (and its fans are still making demands on HOW to figure it out), there are still a set of movies that are coming to theaters (and HBO Max) that are in the works currently. One of them happens to be the Blue Beetle movie that’ll focus on Jamie Reyes, one of the fan-favorite versions of the character who has appeared in various media like Batman The Brave and the Bold and Young Justice.
Slowly, the casting for the movie has been revealed, including showing off who will be in the supporting cast, possibly the villains of the movie, and more. But now, a casting call that has been “leaked” online seems to support that another key character in Blue Beetle history will not only be in the movie…but will be played by Jason Sudeikis.
We say that because in the call, it has a picture of the actor (with his eyes crossed out for some reason…) and the call is for a “Ted Body Double”.
Those who know the history will understand why Ted Kord is so important to the superhero world of DC Comics. He was the second main inheritor of the scarab that will turn Jaime Reyes into a hero. But, he couldn’t connect with it like his predecessor or his successor. So, using his wealth and abilities from his company, Kord Industries, he became a Batman-like hero, and a well-respected one at that.
He also has a bromance with Booster Gold, but we’ll leave that be for now.
Granted, this is just a rumor and we can’t definitively confirm that Ted Kord will be in the movie. But, given that Kord Industries (and at least one family member of his) WILL be in the Blue Beetle film…it would be appropriate for him to join in on the fun.
