Bandai Namco’s Pac-man is celebrating his mid-life crisis with a hella groovy track and a psychedelic music video, cut in a range of different art styles: some scenes are 8-bit, some 16-bit, some 3D, others are stop motion and some others are what look like cartoons straight out of the 80s.
The song in itself is retro-funk which is a genre of music informed by 80s anime and happy lyrics. If you ask me Pac-man fits perfectly into the genre.
We are PAC-MAN!” Is sung by Kaho Kidoguchi in Japanese and English, and Ann Una in Chinese.
“The song aims at promoting people cooperating and connecting together to live a healthy lifestyle,” reads the press release. Seriously? Since when is a healthy lifestyle eating terrified ghosts and the occasional piece of fruit.
If the music video wasn’t enough to get your Pac-man fever going, then this will! Pac-man Museum+ will be released this Friday, May 27. Featuring 14 different classic and modern Pac-Man games.
Pac-man Museum+ will be available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation and Xbox (including Game Pass).
Fornite is also set to receive a Pac-man feature on June 2, albeit in the form of items.
