Halo 5 Guardians is coming in a month’s time, but fans are unhappy with 343 Studios for refusing to budge on this one point.
The Collector’s Edition of Halo 5 Guardians is a tad less desirable for collectors, because they have perplexingly chosen to add a digital download code for the bundle. This is genuinely perplexing, because the special edition has a steelbook, and everything about this defeats the purpose for collectors to get a collector’s edition.
343 did make this promise regarding this issue:
But before we get started, I’d like to touch on a few items, the first of which is the Halo 5: Guardians Limited Collector’s Edition. When we last left off, we let you know that we had heard the feedback that some of you prefer a physical disc instead of a digital copy, and that we were exploring options. Today, we’re able to confirm that for those who would like a physical disc, we’ll provide an option for fans to exchange their digital copy for a physical copy at no additional cost. We’ll get into details as we get closer to launch, and we’d like to once again thank you for the feedback.
The problem today? Halo 5 Guardians is going to be released on October 27, 2015. While 343 has enough time to keep their promise and share details on how the trade will work, they’ve also had more than enough time to confirm how it works. If 343 already has set these plans but is deliberately keeping this information separate, they are definitely making a huge mistake.
Would you buy a Collector’s Edition based on this promise now? Or would you hold back until 343 finally confirmed they’ve fixed everything? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
