It has just been announced that Samurai Riot Definitive Edition will be arriving on Switch on June 1st, 2022. The brains behind this 2D co-op beat-em-up game are the combined teams of Hound Picked Games and Wako Factory, who are bringing the little samurai game to Nintendo five years after its original release.
This Samurai Riot release announcement isn’t the only good news though because this Nintendo Switch version will also come with a whole host of new features and enhancements that aim to give you the best experience possible. What are these new features we hear you ask? Well, the game will consist of some new animation that runs at 60fps, new dialogue (which is exciting, right?), pixel-perfect stability, and optimization which they claim is ten times lighter than the original version. And to round it all up, the game will have smoother combos, come with updated backgrounds, and will just include an overall more impressive feel to it.
Charlotte Buchet is the co-founder of Wako Factory and she had her say on this new release in a recent interview. “We wanted to release Samurai Riot Definitive Edition on Switch because it’s an old-school co-op game and the Switch is perfect at embodying the ‘couch game’ aspect we imagined, both in your living room or out and about.” This game is definitely giving off a vibe, that’s for sure.
Samurai Riot has quite a strong following of loyal fans as well, but if you are one of those few that doesn’t know about this game then you’re in luck. This is a stunning visual experience as well as an engaging game, with the power of the backdrop also heavily influencing the player’s decisions. A wandering samurai (that’s where you come into it) is tasked with bringing peace back to a land that is in disarray. You must battle through the hordes of enemies that stand in your way, but with a heavy arsenal of attacks at your disposal, that shouldn’t be a problem for a skilled warrior like yourself.
