IronOak Games’ Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming game For The King is well underway, and has received $80,000 (as of this moment), double what the developers have asked for. It’s now well into reaching its stretch goals.
For The King can be best described as an online roguelike RPG that features stylish low-poly art, turn-based combat, and persistent choices. The game offers both single-player gameplay as well as an online cooperative mode with up to three players.
Players will fight through a procedurally generated world that randomizes what you’ll encounter throughout your adventures.
"For The King aims to capture the feeling of adventure and storytelling of many memorable RPGs, but with an unpredictable nature to create a non-linear experience," said Gordon Moran, Art Director for IronOak Games.
"The game has taken on a life of its own since we started development. It perfectly combines traditional table top board game mechanics with old school turn-based video games, and will appeal to a range of RPG fans."
Some of its features include a day and night cycle, weather system, persistent lore that allows you to collect lore and spend it at town libraries to unlock new game mechanics, and persistent weapon crafting that lets you collect recipes and unusual resources to craft weapons over multiple playthroughs.
You can support it on Kickstarter here. It's estimated for release in June 2016.
