Final Fantasy 15 Director Offers New Details on Chocobos, Lunafreya, More

September 24, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Moogles may or may not make an appearance.

Final Fantasy 15 dirtector Hajime Tabata recently spoke with Japanese video game magazine Famitsu (translated by Siliconera) and offered a lot of details on the upcoming mainline entry in the Final Fantasy franchise.

One point of interest was Tabata’s desire to hopefully allow players to play their own MP3 music files while driving around in the iconic luxury car that will be heavily featured as the main party ventures through the game’s narrative. Due to legal restrictions and different laws in different countries, Tabata says that it is more likely that Final Fantasy or other Square Enix music will take the place of a personal playlist.

Siliconera offers several other interesting facts from the Famitsu interview. We’ve collected a few below:

  • Noctis and friends won’t get into investigating the story behind the meteor too much, as it’s been around since long ago; however, we will learn more about it in the game.
  • It still hasn’t been determined whether Moogles will be in the game or not, as Tabata still has them under consideration.
  • Fans voiced their opinion on wanting to heara Final Fantasy main theme arrangement by Yoko Shimomura, and that’s something Tabata says he’d like to hear as well.
  • There are various kinds of fish to catch in Final Fantasy XV. While it does vary from area to area, you’ll get to catch some fish that are as big as 1 meter long (3.2 feet).
  • You won’t be able to fish at the sea, but since you’ll get to travel by ship, Tabata feels that it’d be a good idea to have it included.

Check out the full rundown from Siliconera here.

Final Fantasy 15 is expected to launch next year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. An extended cut of the game’s “Dawn” trailer was released last week.
