Despite all the shuffles in the schedule, there are indeed two more DC Comics movies coming out this year. We already had The Batman (which is now confirmed to get a sequel), and then in December, we Shazam Fury of the Gods. But in October, Shazam’s nemesis is getting his live-action debut at last in Black Adam. Starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a role he’s said has been over a decade in the making, and now only 5 months away from release.
But, that doesn’t mean the work is done, not yet. Reshoots are going on right now and The Rock decided to show a rather fun BTS clip of himself walking onto the set in full Teth Adam gear. Not unlike how he would at times during his wrestling days. The suit looks incredibly detailed and just as important, The Rock looks like a total boss in it, so that helps for sure.
Thankfully, via recent interviews and teasers, we do know a lot about the Black Adam film. Including how it’ll feature him trying to take back his home nation of Khandaq, his clashing with the Justice Society of America (as well as the looks of some of them being shown) and more.
What this means long-term though is very up in the air. The hope of many fans is that we’ll see a “fourth movie” in the Shazam line (that includes this one if you couldn’t tell) where Earth’s Mightiest Mortal and Teth Adam clash.
But given the Warner Bros Discovery merger that is now going on, and the very lackluster Upfronts that didn’t really talk about anything new movie-wise in the DCEU, it could be that they’re waiting to see what happens with the box office and THEN see if another movie is warranted.
We’ll find out how it turns out movie-wise when Black Adam arrives on October 21st.
