Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura says fans will have to wait for it a bit longer, but he has some good news.
In an interview held at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, he revealed that Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue will be using tech from Kingdom Hearts 3. Apparently, even though Kingdom Hearts 3 is also planned for Xbox One, this decision made it necessary to make Final Chapter Prologue a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
Because the two games use the same tech, Nomura also can’t comment on the status of Final Chapter Prologue’s development. He did confirm that it will essentially have completely new content. The version of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance that will be bundled in has to be a complete remake since it’s switching from two screens to one. Meanwhile, Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, and Kingdom Hearts 0.2: Birth by Sleep–A Fragmentary Passage, are completely original from the ground up.
A Fragmentary Passage will revolve around Aqua, and her journey through the realm of darkness. This chapter occurs immediately after Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix’s secret trailer. There will be parts of Kingdom Hearts 3, and will be the size of a Kingdom Hearts world.
