Capcom has made two bombastic announcements for Street Fighter 5 today with the Capcom Fighters Network and the latest fighter, Karin Kanzuki.
The silver spooned slugger is heiress to the Kanzuki fortune, inheriting from the family a taste for domination, and an air of condescension you can actually see if you squint hard enough. She combines several martial arts styles to create Kanzuki style martials arts, such as bushido, wrestling, judo, and some old fashioned karate. Karin is famous for being a rival to Sakura Kasugano, but she also has a connection to R Mika. She pledged to be Mika’s sponsor after the wrestler impressed her in a match.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 fans should find Karin familiar, with some tweaks. Her Guren Ken mixup is now her V-Trigger. Called the Kanzuki-Ryu Guren No Kata, it essentially functions like it would if she was using Custom Combos in Alpha 3. Her V-Skill is her Meioken, which now has the ability to neutralize projectiles aside from knocking down enemies on impact.
Capcom also announced the Capcom Fighters Network, a new community feature comparable to Tekken’s World Tekken Federation. Aside from the expected tournament results, match statistics, and replays, it will generate a heat map of active players, tournament news, and more.
CFN will have extensive gameplay analytical tools as well. It will track down your win loss records, but also details like number of light punches you land, tech throws, etc.
Street Fighter 5 will be released in 2016 on Windows and PlayStation 4.
