Rebel Galaxy Dated for Release on PC

September 16, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The space RPG is finally coming out.

We now have a release date for Rebel Galaxy, the space RPG from Double Damage Games. Having personally played it, I'd describe it as being a lot like Firefly, if Firefly were a video game.

Double Damage Games is lead by Travis Baldree and Erich Schaefer, two developers who were previously at Runic Games where they developed Torchlight and its sequel.

Rebel Galaxy is set to launch on October 20, 2015 on the PC through Steam and GOG. It'll also be out on the PS4, Xbox One and Mac later in the year.

In Rebel Galaxy, players are put in control of a capital spaceship to explore a huge, randomly generated galaxy spanning multiple star systems, all the while engaged in a story campaign.

“We’re very happy to announce the launch date for Rebel Galaxy,” said Travis Baldree, Co-Founder of Double Damage Games. “We’ve had more fun making this game than anything else we’ve ever done, and we’re excited – and a little nervous! – to see it out in the world.”

Throughout the galaxy, players will interact with aliens, battle pirates, explore anomalies, scavenge derelict ships, mine asteroids, and discover strange and mysterious artifacts. Thanks to the game's open-ended setting, players can choose their own path to glory and upgrade their vessel with new guns, utilities and defenses.
