During a livestream yesterday for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Naughty Dog’s lead writer on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Josh Scherr might have slipped up and revealed a sequel to The Last of Us being in development.
“All the facial animation in the Uncharted series was led up by Eric, here . . . and [on] the first The Last of Us. Uh, did I say the first The Last of Us?” Scherr said while discussing facial animation in Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.
Scherr comments in the video above do not outright name The Last of Us 2 and could be read as a simple slip of the tongue that means nothing. However, it has been known since June of this year that a sequel to The Last of Us is in development thanks to actor Nolan North. Speaking at a Metrocon 2015 panel, North responded to a question about any work with Naughty Dog he’ll be doing after Uncharted 4.
“Not yet. I know they’re doing The Last of Us 2,” North said at the time.
A sequel to The Last of Us has not been confirmed by Naughty Dog. Currently, the developer has Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection set to come out on PlayStation 4 on Oct. 7 in North America and Oct. 9 in Europe. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be released on March 18, 2016.
