Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS is getting another piece of funky cross game content, and maybe one we should have seen coming.
Both the Wii U and 3DS versions are getting a Super Mario Maker stage. And yes, unlike the preexisting Mario based stages, the Super Mario Maker stage will be getting a personality all its own.
When the battle starts, the hand (which seems randomizable based on the cat’s paw in the select screen) will start laying down the elements of the stage as the fighters drop in.
The stage will be different every time you play, but will be based on the same four Mario games that Super Mario Maker uses, namely, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros.
When blocks do get broken, the hand will be back to fix them, bringing up the question if the hand can attack the fighters as well.
We will find out soon enough, as the stage goes live on September 30. Unfortunately, there is no word if the stage is free or paid, but it would make a tidy freebie for users who have both games.
