It’s unclear when Genshin Impact will implement its next update, but some exciting news has been released to tide fans over. The game’s official Twitter account has revealed the next playable character to be added to the game: Shikanoin Heizou, an Anemo user. Hailing from Inazuma, the character works for the Tenryou Commission as a detective. Unlike many of the game’s other characters, Heizou has not been seen in Genshin Impact before.
The post describes Heizou as “free-spirited and unruly, but cheerful and lively.” In a follow-up post, the account posted a quote from the Hydro character Kamisato Ayato. “Doushin Shikanoin has admirable wit and insight. While he is unfettered and unrestrained in demeanor, one should not dismiss his talents. The Tenryou Commission is incredibly fortunate to have such a man in their ranks.”
The Anemo sword-user will be coming to the game in the future, though it is not specified whether he will join in 2.7 or 2.8. Update 2.7 will add Yelan and Kuki Shinobu to Genshin Impact‘s character roster.
The current phase of Genshin Impact‘s 2.6 update has introduced a new event called ‘Spices of the West.’ Running from May 14 until June 4, the limited-time quest has players helping Nazafirin conduct her research by using recipes to make seasonings, and doing so will net you some more goodies including Primogems and Mora. To participate, players must be Adventure Rank 20. This will allow you to create seasonings–however, to cook dishes, you’ll need to be at least Adventure Rank 28 and have completed the “Idle Teapot Talk” quest.
Following this, the ‘Overflowing Mastery’ event will take place in-game from May 22 until May 29.
This month, it was announced that Genshin Impact had surpassed $3 billion in global lifetime player spending across Google Play and the App Store since its launch on September 28, 2020. The game has averaged revenue of $1 billion every six months.
Genshin Impact is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices. Earlier this month, it was announced that the Nintendo Switch version of the game is still in development, though no release window has been set. The title’s 2.7 Update has been delayed until further notice, likely due to strict lockdowns hitting Shanghai, where the game’s developer is based.
