The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most financially profitable games this year. It's right up there with Grand Theft Auto V and will soon be joined by Star Wars Battlefront and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, both of which are expected to make a good profit.
The game was developed with a total budget of $81 million, which costs less than half of what it took to make Grand Theft Auto V, which supposedly cost $265m.
CD Projekt Red revealed that The Witcher 3 has seen over one million PC activations on their GOG Galaxy service. That's not counting all of the Steam activations and PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. The game earned a profit of $62.5 million during the latest financial period. The game sold 6 million copies in 6 weeks.
The company's CEO Adam Kicinski said that the studio conducted 40 marketing campaigns for the game, which was developed over a period of 3.5 years by 240 in-house staff. In total, 1,500 people were involved in the game's development worldwide. Since its release, it's been localized into 15 different languages, seven of which (including Japanese) have full voice acting made up of 500 voice actors.
