Once again, a LinkedIn listing may have unwittingly revealed new information about games in development. This time, the rumored project revolves around Kingdom Hearts 2.9.
The source is the resume of one Richard VanDeventer, who seems to have had extensive experience in the gaming industry in Japan. Other projects he worked on include Capcom’s Resident Evil 6, Game Republic’s Kinght’s Contract, and some work at Comcept.
Kingdom Hearts 2.9 is listed for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. He worked on game idea planning and documentation, game check and balance, boss planning, and attraction flow planning and documentation.
For those who may not remember, attraction flow is a gameplay mechanic where you can cause certain events to occur by executing certain actions. This is connected to the amusement rides that seemed to spontaneously appear in the gameplay previews, so the attraction in attraction flow may mean park attractions.
There is more info on the work he did for Kingdom Hearts 3. We’ll repost those details verbatim below, but it seems most interesting that he did some work under a subheading of Pixar as well. Apparently he held meetings with both Disney and Pixar and was team manager for this specific part of the project.
Last E3 a screen for a Kingdom Hearts 2.9 appeared on the Square Enix Presents event before being quietly replaced. It seemed like a mistake then, but now it seems PlayStation owners are getting one more game to round up their Kingdom Hearts anthologies.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is planned for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
