Today Behemoth has announced a release date on the upcoming next generation version of Castle Crashers, entitled Castle Crashers Remastered. Featuring improved textures, doubled framerate (to 60 FPS), a new multiplayer mini-game called Back Off Barbarian, performance updates to single and online multiplayer, and gameplay tweaks, this digital facelift comes to Xbox One on September 9, 2015. It is priced at $14.99 however, those who have already purchased the original version on Xbox 360 will receive a loyalty discount entitling them to a free copy of Remastered (with Xbox Live Gold membership). The offer is good through September 20, 2015. Following that, users who have previously bought Castle Crashers will be given a $10 discount with their Xbox Live Gold Membership, bringing the cost of Remastered down to $5. Check out the announcement trailer above.
If for some reason you do not wish to play the improved version of Castle Crashers and you own the original on Xbox 360, you can still play that version on Xbox One once the backwards compatibility program broadly launches in the fall.
