Epic Games, creators of the Unreal Engine, which is currently in its fourth iteration, released a cinematic, slow-motion virtual reality demo and its content library for free on the Epic Games launcher today.
The demo, which depicts a first-person point of view moving through a “bullet time-inspired action sequence,” is compatible with Oculus Rift Developer’s Kit 2, the PlayStation Moprheus, and the HTC Vive SteamVR. Titled “Showdown,” the demo was originally shown off a year ago at Oculus Connect 2014.

Epic will be hosting a livestream tomorrow, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m. ET on their Twitch channel to discuss the creation of the “Showdown” demo.

On Monday, Epic pushed out an update for Unreal Engine 4 that made improvements to iOS and Android support, support for DirectX 12, and support for VR devices.
Currently, Unreal Engine is free for everyone to use. Only after a developer makes $3,000 on a product developed using Unreal Engine 4 will Epic begin taking a 5% cut on future sales of said product.
