Doctor Strange Box Office Revenue Revised For The Better

May 9, 2022 by Todd Black

Mo Money, Mo Madness

At last, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness has arrived in theaters and thoughts are…well…it depends on who you ask. There are those who loved it, those who didn’t, those who were in the middle, and everything in between. But no matter what the thoughts were on the movie, there is one thing that can be certain, it made a LOT of money. To the extent that as of today, it apparently made a little more than it was projected to have made yesterday.

Yesterday, it was projected to have made $185 million dollars across its opening weekend. But now? It’s said to have made $187 million! BEHOLD ITS POWER!!!!!

…ok, that was a little over the top, we grant you, and yeah, that’s not the biggest of bumps, but it’s still impressive enough to make it one of the biggest movie openings of all time. Granted, it didn’t match the numbers of Spider-Man No Way Home, but to be honest, that would’ve been quite a feat to top given the insane level of hype that movie had.

It also should be noted that Multiverse of Madness did so well at the box office that it eclipsed the original movies haul in its opening weekend by over $100 million dollars, a jump that many movie brands would KILL for. And, of course, that means it has the biggest box office opening of 2022 so far, and to be honest…we think this will be hard to top. Even by other Marvel movies.

On that note, the next Marvel movie is that of Thor Love and Thunder, which will likely do very well based on the mostly loved Thor Ragnarok. And then later this year is Black Panther Wakanda Forever, a film that hasn’t had a lot of teases yet.

Either way, things are looking up for Marvel in 2022 and Doctor Strange helped set a tone for this year.
