DICE has good news for anyone who plans to pick up Battlefield 3 on the PlayStation 3.
DICE has confirmed that the Battlefield 3 Open Beta will be launching on 29 September. The beta is expected to run until October 10. Players can participate in the beta by going to the PlayStation Store and simply selecting the Battlefield 3 "demo." The "demo" wording confirms that the Open Beta will serve as little more than a stress test for the game's netcode and Battlelog system.
The beta contains a single map—Operation Métro—in Rush Mode.
Players who picked up the Medal of Honor: Limited Edition or possess a Tier 1 Edition Online Pass can access the game 48 hours early, on the 27th.
Additionally, DICE says that PlayStation 3 owners of the game will experience the free Back to Karkand DLC, and every other expansion packs for the game a week earlier than players on the Xbox 360 and PC.
