Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Reaches 30 Million Downloads

April 27, 2022 by Carley Garcia

All we’re missing are holograms.

Only three months after the game’s release, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel has surpassed 30 million downloads worldwide. The free-to-play title has been growing in popularity at record speed, pulling in original fans of the game and new players alike with its snappy and addicting gameplay. It also helps that the game is available for nearly every platform, giving everyone a chance to join in on the fun.

To celebrate the milestone, all players will receive 1,000 gems by logging in before June 30, 2022. Go grab that sweet, free loot before time runs out.

Along with the announcement, Konami has also made some adjustments to make things more balanced for players. As some anticipated, these new “limit regulations” include a list of restricted cards.

Cards now restricted include:

  • Cyber Angel Benten
  • Conquistador of the Golden Land

Semi-restricted cards now include:

  • Lyrilusc – Cobalt Sparrow
  • Prank-Kids Rocksies
  • Adamancipator Analyzer
  • The Phantom Knights of Torn Scales
  • Tri-Brigade Fraktall
  • Virtual World Roshi – Laolao
  • Sekka’s Light
  • Fusion Destiny
  • D.D. Dynamite

Those wanting to use Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, you’re in luck–Konami has lifted restrictions on the card in this new announcement.

While the Yu-Gi-Oh anime and manga series have both remained incredibly popular globally over the past two decades, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel focuses more on the trading card game Duel Monsters and less on characters from the series.

Since the first Yu-Gi-Oh game, Monster Capsule: Breed and Battle, was released in Japan in 1998, 55 more Yu-Gi-Oh titles have followed. Many of these did not see global releases.

The original manga series was written and illustrated by Kazuki Takahashi and was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump between 1996 and 2004. It has inspired 11 anime series and four films to date.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is available to play for free on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. Konami announced that the game had hit 10 million downloads on February 6 and 20 million downloads on March 11. Let’s hope the upward trajectory continues.
