FlatOut 4: Total Insanity, the fourth numbered game but seventh game in the series overall, is being developed by Tiny Rebel Games in partnership with Kylotonn Entertainment, publisher Strategy First Inc. announced today.
Tiny Rebel Games, which is best known for developing the mobile game Doctor Who: Legacy under license from BBC Worldwide, also provides consultancy services for other developers. It’s development team includes people who have worked on other AAA games, such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, GTA 4, GTA: Vice City, BioShock, Borderlands, Midnight Club, Civilization 4, X-Com, and more.
“We’ve been fans of the FlatOut franchise for years now for its focus on fun, accessible, over the top combative racing. The Kylotonn team brings tremendous experience in racing, and with them we hope to deliver a new FlatOut experience which pays homage to what fans love about the franchise yet goes beyond it in outrageousness, richness of environment and design, and community involvement” said Tiny Rebel Games creative director Lee Cummings in a press release.
FlatOut 4: Totally Insanity will contain some degree of fan involvement when it comes to the game’s development, beginning with a chance to vote on which classic FlatOut musical track will make its way to FlatOut 4. Fans can vote on a selection of tracks by heading to the FlatOutwebsite and clicking on the “Videos” link at the top of page. By default, everyone has one vote, but liking FlatOut on Facebook and signing up for FlatOut’s newsletter will each grant an additional vote.
This will be the first FlatOut game developed by Tiny Rebel Games. The series was developed by Bugbear Entertainment until 2010, which saw the release of FlatOut for the Nintendo Wii and was developed by Zoo Games. The last FlatOut game, FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction was released in 2011 and developed by Team6 Game Studios.
