Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Actor Discusses Reshoots

April 20, 2022 by Todd Black

Reshoots are a part of the game

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a film that has gotten everyone talking due to just the potential that the film has. It’s the first MCU film to feature a character going into the multiverse at large (versus the multiverse coming to them like in No Way Home), and the teasers and trailers have showcased a lot of what could happen and who could show up. Hence why people are excited.

But, the catch is that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has also been one to have gotten a LOT of reports over the last year or so in regards to reshoots. Stating that the film has undergone a LOT of them, and even had some as recently as March. So is that a bad thing? Not in the eyes of Bruce Campbell, who will be in the film in some capacity:

“The Marvel guys, they make eight of these movies at the same time, so they’re always updating storylines. So, my buddy Sam has had to add scenes that they [Marvel] told him he had to shoot, and he’s removed scenes that no longer apply,” Campbell said. “So until May rolls around I don’t think Benedict Cumberbatch even knows if he’s in this movie or not.”

Campbell and Raimi have a good relationship, and Bruce himself knows about reshoots from the films he’s done, so he can definitely speak on this matter.

The question still remains though. Because Marvel has talked about “adding in” a lot for the Doctor Strange sequel, and yet, the film is only 2 hours 6 minutes long. Which makes you wonder what was left in, left out, or couldn’t be fit in by the time they needed to wrap up.

We’ll have all of the answers when the film arrives on May 6th.
